Hi, I’m Brooklyn. I’m in the seventh grade. I am a military child because my dad is in the Air Force. We currently live in Hawaii at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam.
One blessing of being a military child is that you get to see new and unfamiliar places. You also get to meet people and make new friends. Another blessing is that you can do different activities, depending on where you live. There is always something new to try everywhere you go. I’ve visited thirteen countries before turning 10 years old and I lived in Germany for 5 years.
One challenge of being a military child is you have to leave places and friends behind. Once you get used to school and gaining good friends, usually they or you are packing up to move to the next home. A second challenge is you are away from your families and that can be sad sometimes. Being away for holidays and big celebrations can be hard.
The support that military children could benefit from is having someone to talk to and who won’t judge them by expressing their concerns. An idea to help other military children is we can create an app so specifically military children can talk to each other, no matter where they are and stay connected.
I’m glad that we have a WELS church here in Hawaii because then we can stay connected to the WELS organization and stay close to God. In past places, we weren’t able to go to service weekly, so it a blessing to have this opportunity.
To anyone reading this, I hope it was helpful.
Bye!!
